As per my undertstanding, we have DNS lookup to resolve the name of a resource on internet into an IP address. But what if, I have the ip address and i type that directly into address bar? Will that still go to my dns server? Or will it directly fetch data from source?|||if you have a specific ip address, allocated for private networks, possibly a DNS look-up will still be needed. however this occurs internally, not necessarily by the user but the pc itself. a DNS is allocated mostly for private domains necessary for them to fit in as many networks as they can in their own. however, a public ip address has a specific dns adress for each of it's complementing sites. say yahoo... yahoo's website has a separate domainfor it's SAN or Storage Area Network... each DNS correspond to a particular site from which you are directed upon...|||glad to oblige to your query. just remember this, an ip address is no different to your home address. the DNS would be your house #, street name %26amp; district locality. your ip address would be your City, state/region. just think of it this way and you'd have a better understanding of how it works.
