The idea that people can track your IP creeps me out especially when I saw the website whatismyipadress. I noticed though, it cant give you an exact location of where you are but a pretty good general idea. If you live in an apartment building, is it that much harder to find your IP, since so many people live in the same building?
thanks.|||You do not "own" your IP address. It is owned by your ISP (internet service provider) and is only leased to you for a certain amount of time.
In the USA, the only way to get an ISP to release personal information (name, telephone, exact address etc.) about a particular IP address is with a Court Order.
And Court Orders are usually only given out in the case of suspected serious criminal activity. Don't hold your breath.
All someone can determine from an IP address is the general geographic location. Perhaps narrow it down to one in several thousand people.
The type of building that you live in will change nothing, the limited information available without a Court Order is the same.|||IP address CAN NOT be traced back to your home address.
AS far as an IP address can be traced by a third party is the ISP who owns the IP. That is your Internet Service Provider. Only your ISP knows who is using the IP's he assignes.
The ISP will not release that info unless by Court Order.|||It does not matter where you live. Everything is depend on your ISP. To see power of IP address tracking technology and learn about IP addressing visit:
